The risk manager owns how FlowSentry rates customers. You draft and test risk model versions, propose overrides where the model misses something, work enhanced due diligence (EDD) for high-risk customers and maintain the enterprise-wide risk assessment (EWRA). The MLRO or Deputy MLRO approves what you prepare, so every change to how customers are rated passes through two people.

What you can do

  • Draft new risk model versions, starting from a reference model, with a Calibration rationale.
  • Use the What-if simulator to change factor group weights and band cut-offs, see the band-shift matrix and the customers who would move, then Save as draft version.
  • Send a draft for approval and download the model Doc pack for governance.
  • Read every customer's rating, including How the score is made up and Score history, and use Rescore now.
  • Propose override on a customer's band with a reason and an expiry date.
  • Work EDD checklists: Mark complete with a note, then Submit for approval.
  • Review onboarding applications and decide inconclusive identity checks, when client onboarding is switched on.
  • Open EWRA cycles, Assess a risk and Add to register.
  • Read the rule library, backtests and rule versions to understand how monitoring uses risk.
  • Use the dashboards, including Customer risk.

How ratings work, briefly

Customers are rated automatically when they are loaded or changed. A score from 0 to 100 comes from five factor groups (customer, geography, product, channel and behaviour) and maps to a band: Low, Medium, High or Very high. Floor rules can raise the band, for example a domestic PEP is at least Medium. Until your institution activates its own model, FlowSentry uses the platform reference model, marked "Platform reference · uncalibrated".

A customer whose effective band is High gets an EDD case automatically.

What needs a second person

You prepare Who decides Step-up
A risk model draft MLRO or Deputy MLRO activates it Yes
A risk override MLRO or Deputy MLRO approves or rejects it Yes
An EDD checklist Senior approver, MLRO or Deputy MLRO signs it off No
An EWRA cycle MLRO or Deputy MLRO completes it Yes

An override never replaces the calculated score: both are kept, and the override expires within a year. A High override opens an EDD case.

Tip: Run the what-if simulator before you draft. The band-shift matrix shows "Customers re-scored" and "Would change band", so the approver sees the effect of your change before it goes live. Nothing is saved until you choose Save as draft version.

What you cannot do

  • Activate a model, approve an override or complete an EWRA cycle. The MLRO or deputy does that.
  • Approve an EDD sign-off or an onboarding application.
  • See alerts, cases or STR material. The risk manager role has no case access.
  • Author or approve monitoring rules.
  • Propose or approve KYC changes.

Your first steps

  1. Open Customer risk and read the tiles: rated customers, High band, reviews due, overrides and open EDD cases.
  2. Open Risk models and check which model is active and its approval status.
  3. Open a customer's risk tab and read How the score is made up to see each factor's contribution.
  4. Try the What-if simulator with a small weight change and read the band-shift matrix.
  5. Check the EDD workbench for open checklists.
  6. Open EWRA and review the current cycle and heatmap.
